St Thomas Rest Park Refurbishment, Crows Nest

The project brief required the refurbishment of the existing playground and included supply and installation of new standard and custom designed playground equipment to suit the site and add inclusivity. The scope for Play Workshop also included the supply and install of new organic and rubber safety surfacing, minor landscaping, sandstone edging, and furniture installation. We approached this project with close consideration of Council’s plans and specification, as well as observing and embracing the existing physical and social characteristics of the site.

Following consideration of the existing items and discussion with community members who used the park, Play Workshop designed a custom train and carriage to add more play value and accessibility. This new item was integrated into the playground with sensitivity to the overall look and colour scheme of the site. Other new additions such as an accessible carousel and in-ground, accessible trampoline further diversified the play opportunities available and made them more inclusive.

The final project was delivered successfully, considering the refurbished elements and the new equipment supplied.
